Despite the strides in celebrating diverse body types, many still expect people who work out regularly to look thin and toned. Instead of trying to achieve a certain look, Hollywood celebrity Mindy Kaling’s exercise goal is to make herself feel centered, healthy, and happy.
For Kaling, her approach to fitness helps her stay healthy, and enjoying a fun exercise is as simple as taking a walk with her loved ones. This led the comedienne to partner with Propel to provide grants to trainers who focus on making fitness more inclusive and welcoming to people with wide-ranging body types.
Skating provides low-impact cardio while strengthening core and leg muscles, and dancing is a great way to get in cardio, improve brain function, and enhance mood. Jumping rope is also a practical workout choice that can be done anywhere, while getting in some baseball swings with a few friends at the local batting cage provides a solid workout for arms and upper body.
