How Much Sugar Is In A Serving Of Raspberries?
By CIARA TURNER-EWERT
Raspberries are loaded with antioxidants, but can also be high in sugar for people who have diabetes or are sensitive to sugar. It's important to know how much sugar you're getting from this fruit so you can safely enjoy its sweet, yet tart flavor.
WebMD shares that 1 cup of raspberries is equivalent to 5 grams of sugar—sucrose (0.246 g), glucose (2.29 g), and fructose (2.89 g)—and 8 grams of fiber. One cup of raspberries also contains a large amount of magnesium (27.1 mg) and vitamin C (32.2 mg).
Each of these factors improves heart health, strengthens bones, and, when applied topically, can help against sun damage. It should come as no surprise that the raspberry's low sugar level, antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, and minerals all help to make it a superfood.
