How Much Sugar Is In An Avocado?
By ANDRA PICINCU
The avocado is a nutritional powerhouse, with high amounts of fiber and healthy fats. Additionally, it has nutrients that can slow down aging, promote eye and skin health, reduce cancer risk, and much more.
Unlike so many other fruits, avocados are virtually sugar free, with only 0.2 grams of natural sugar per serving. Among these sugars is D-mannoheptulose, a monosaccharide that may improve glycemic control and aid in weight management.
The fat in avocado may further improve glycemic control. In a 2007 clinical trial published in the Journal of the American College of Nutrition, researchers found that diets high in monounsaturated fats can reduce insulin resistance and postprandial glucose levels in people with obesity and diabetes.
