If You Have Blue Eyes, You Have A High Risk Of This Medical Condition
By ERIN MARIE
While blue eyes have been associated with a lower risk of certain health conditions, they have also been linked with a potential increased risk for others.
According to a 2011 Diabetes/Metabolism Research and Reviews study, people with blue eyes might be more susceptible to type 1 diabetes than those with other eye colors.
Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease in which the body attacks its pancreas, producing insufficient insulin. It affects 5% to 10% of diabetes patients.
The lack of insulin results in high blood sugar levels, causing symptoms such as excessive hunger or thirst, weight loss, increased urination, blurred vision, and more.
