What Happens To Your Body When You Take Ibuprofen With Coffee
By JENNIFER ANANDANAYAGAM
Ibuprofen, a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and coffee are commonly consumed, but many wonder if it's safe to wash down the pill with your handy cup of java.
Per a 2015 study published in the journal Cochrane Library, taking a single dose of ibuprofen with caffeine significantly increased the drug's analgesic effect.
The study found that taking 200 milligrams of ibuprofen with 100 milligrams of caffeine was more effective than consuming two tablets of the medicine minus the coffee.
While nothing concrete to date indicates that taking both together could cause a negative outcome, the same might not apply to every person who tries it.
If you notice any gastrointestinal discomfort after trying the combo, it's best to pause the habit or consider stopping altogether.
