What Happens When You Sleep With A Pillow Between
Your Legs
By NICOLE LAMARCO
Sleeping on the side is especially good for those with sleep apnea, snorers, or anyone who just wants a good night’s rest. Sleeping well has many health benefits, and the best way to get a good night’s rest is to sleep on the side with a pillow between the knees.
This position is also great if you’re pregnant, have sciatica or arthritis, or experience chronic back pain. This position can help with sciatica pain, back pain, hip pain, and herniated disc pain and can even help with posture, but for those who have knee pain or have had knee surgery, it is recommended to talk to the doctor first.
There is no need for a special pillow for the knees, but it should keep the knees a little less than hip-width apart, the head neutral, and the neck supported so as not to put pressure on the spine. Choose a side to lie down on, bend knees slightly toward the chest, but not in a fetal position, and place a pillow between your knees.
