Before & After Photos Of Female Stars Who Ditched Alcohol

It's no secret that more and more people are ditching the drink after learning that drinking alcohol can increase the risk of seven different types of cancer. "The safest amount of alcohol is none," Dr. Elizabeth Platz, a cancer epidemiologist at Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, said in an article for the institution.

It should be noted, however, that among that ever-growing list are many female celebrities who are abstaining from alcohol with their health and wellness at the top of mind. "It used to be that you had to be an alcoholic to take a break or to get sober, you know, and it's not the case today and I love seeing this whole younger generation like doing it different and trying different things and learning how to connect with each other without using a drug," addiction specialist Kristina Wandzilak-Giorgi told "Good Morning America" about the growing trend toward sobriety (via YouTube).

Anne Hathaway traded the booze for better mornings with her son

In 2019, Anne Hathaway revealed during an appearance on "The Ellen Show" that she had stopped drinking in October 2018 simply because she didn't enjoy parenting her son in the morning while hungover (via YouTube). Since then, Hathaway has admitted she's never felt better since becoming sober. Speaking about the real reason she stopped drinking, she told Vanity Fair in March 2024, "My personal experience with it is that everything is better. For me, it was wallowing fuel. And I don't like to wallow."

Years later, however, during an on-air conversation with her longtime pal Andy Cohen, she confessed that there was one drawback she hadn't anticipated. Singer, songwriter, and actor Miley Cyrus has been proudly sober since 2020. Bella Hadid quit drinking and gained peace of mind and a beverage line

Bella Hadid has been open and honest about her decision to quit drinking in 2022 and her personal reasons for it. "I don't feel the need because I know how it will affect me at 3 in the morning when I wake up with horrible anxiety thinking about that one thing I said five years ago when I graduated high school," she told InStyle (via Women's Health). These days, when Hadid wants something to wet her whistle, she reaches for her very own line of non-alcoholic adaptogenic drink beverages, Kin Euphorics. "With Kin and lots of self love, I am almost 10 months no alcohol!" she declared on Instagram in July 2023.

Kate Middleton gave up alcohol after her cancer diagnosis

As you may recall, in March 2024, Kate revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer and was undergoing preventative chemotherapy. "I am one hundred percent p***ed that I can't be normal and have a cocktail with my husband on vacay without it turning into 8 and feeling like s***," she candidly confessed on Instagram in May 2025 about her battle with sobriety. Then, in January, Teigen revealed that she had decided once and for all that alcohol did not serve her. "I'm 52 days sober again with no desire to turn back," she declared in a candid post
