Jane Seymour, 75, Credits This Diet For Being Able To Run Circles Around Her Younger Co-Stars
Jane Seymour has found the key to feeling energized in her 70s. Speaking to New Beauty in June 2026, the British actor shared some things that kept her energy levels high, noting, "Well, honestly, I'm told on film sets that I outrun and outpace all the young ones," she continued. "I think it's because I love what I do, and I eat really well. I have always eaten a Mediterranean diet — I love berries, kale and spinach and all those kinds of things."
At its core, the popular diet simply encourages people to fill their plate with plant-based foods and healthy fats. Although there are no strict rules about what foods to eliminate, it is generally recommended that the intake of red meat, sweets, sugary drinks, and butter be kept to a minimum. With Seymour's food choices, it appears that she is well aware of all the foods you should stick to if you're on the Mediterranean diet for balanced energy levels. All the foods that the "Somewhere in Time" star mentioned in the interview are relatively high in fiber.
A 2019 study published in the Journal of Nutrition and Metabolism found that consuming fiber-rich foods can help provide balanced energy throughout the day and also improve satiety levels. Moreover, the Mediterranean diet's focus on whole grains, which are usually complex carbs, can help provide stable energy throughout the day. On the other hand, the diet's curb on sweets and sugary drinks can help prevent energy crashes. Considering all the benefits of her diet, it's no wonder that Seymour can run circles around her younger castmates.
Jane Seymour has made physical activity a priority as she ages
Looking at photos of celebrities over 40 who swear by the Mediterranean diet, it appears that the eating plan can help support aging. For Jane Seymour, though, a nutrient-dense diet isn't the sole means to stay healthy. Speaking to Hello! Magazine in 2025, the "Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman" star shared that she was committed to staying physically active. Since she preferred to incorporate movement into her day naturally rather than enduring a gym session, she naturally enjoyed walks and hiking. The British actor made it clear that she wasn't particularly fond of running because several of her runner friends, who were around her age, had undergone major joint replacement surgeries.
However, Seymour did enjoy Pilates and yoga due to her background in dancing. In a 2026 Instagram video, she revealed that her workout of the day consisted of weighted pilates movements and Gyrotonic exercises. A Gyrotonic workout puts the body through circular motions using a specialized machine. The classic workout can help in building strength, balance, and flexibility, and put the joints through a full range of motion without the stresses of compression.
Seymour apparently prefers having some variety in her workout routine. Based on a 2020 Facebook video, her workout routine consisted of climbing the stairs with weights and weighted core exercises. With all this in mind, it's unsurprising that she dubbed exercising one of "the little habits that help [her] feel [her] best" in a 2026 Instagram post. Seymour also urged her followers to try and incorporate 20 minutes of movement into their day.
