Side-By-Side Pics Of The First Celebrities Who Admitted To Ozempic And GLP-1 Use
Some days, it feels as if GLP-1s have been around forever. And to be fair, these types of drugs have been in the making since the early 2000s, according to a 2025 article in Pharmacological Research. But medications like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro only started making waves about a decade ago.
Initially, GLP-1s were targeted at helping diabetics better control their blood sugar. However, doctors and patients quickly noticed a trend: Individuals who injected themselves with GLP-1s started losing weight as a side effect. It was an unexpected result, and one that caught the public's — and Hollywood's — eye.
As word spread about this new way to lose pounds, celebs began dabbling with GLP-1s. Some were tight-lipped about their experiments, but others admitted to jumping on the trend.
Who were among the first to step out and say, "Yep, I tried it"? Quite a few of the familiar faces you've probably seen on the screen.
Brooks Nader
Model and reality TV star Brooks Nader may have an on-again, off-again relationship with Ozempic. In 2024, Us Weekly quoted her as saying, "I took, like, a little bit when it first came out." However, she assured the magazine that she stopped.
In a 2024 TikTok, Nader's sisters playfully mentioned that although Nader said she lost 20 pounds through exercise, she was actually on Ozempic. The next year, her family showed more concern, staging an intervention to ask her to give up her GLP-1s (via Page Six). Nader admitted to "microdosing" GLP-1s (taking less than the dosage ordinarily prescribed), but said she wouldn't stop, claiming that she was under too much pressure to stay lean.
Elon Musk
Back in 2022, entrepreneur and public figure Elon Musk attributed his slimmer physique to a combination of taking the GLP-1 Wegovy and fasting (via the University of Colorado Anschutz). Musk showed his support of GLP-1s two years later in a tweet: "Nothing would do more to improve the health, lifespan and quality of life for Americans than making GLP inhibitors super low cost."
In another 2024 tweet, he shared a photo of himself posing in a Santa costume, labeling the image "Ozempic Santa." However, he was actually taking Mounjaro by that point (via X).
Amy Schumer
Comedian Amy Schumer first tried Ozempic in 2022, but told Andy Cohen in 2023 that it made her feel "so sick" (via Page Six). In 2025, while on Howard Stern's radio program, Schumer shared that she was "bedridden" after losing 30 pounds (per Us Weekly). Later on, she tried Wegovy, but experienced extreme nausea and went off the drug.
Despite the rockiness of those early GLP-1 experiences, Schumer gave Mounjaro a try. The drug seemed to be a better option; in 2025, she posted a selfie on Instagram showing off her flat stomach. Schumer has gone on record to say that "Mounjaro's been great" (per Entertainment Weekly).
Remi Bader
While on the podcast "Not Skinny Not Fat" in 2023, Remi Bader shared that she tried Ozempic before it became "trendy" (via NBC News). However, she wasn't on it very long before she "got into the bad bingeing" and took herself off the medication. For Bader, the result was a sudden weight gain, one of the things that can happen to your body when you stop taking Ozempic. Her doctor reportedly told her that her binge eating and weight problems were "100% because [she] went on Ozempic."
A 2025 review in eClinicalMedicine revealed that a substantial percentage of individuals with obesity who stop taking GLP-1s end up with larger waistlines and higher body mass indexes (BMIs) within 12 weeks.
Chelsea Handler
When hosting the 2023 Critics' Choice Awards, comedian Chelsea Handler joked that A-listers everywhere were claiming they slimmed down by chugging water, but that "really it's because everyone's on Ozempic" (via Access Hollywood). What the crowd didn't know was that Handler had tried GLP-1s, too, with a bit of a twist.
On the "Call Her Daddy" podcast in 2023, Handler explained that she went on GLP-1 without realizing it. She said one of her doctors gave her a few doses to try if she wanted to lose a few pounds, but she didn't take it again after experiencing some of its side effects. Rebel Wilson
Comedy actor Rebel Wilson made a career out of playing roles centered around being a curvy woman. But she took some time in 2020 and thereafter to focus more on her health, which meant tackling her relationship with food with the temporary help of Ozempic. She ended up having a head-turning physical transformation.
"Someone like me could have a bottomless appetite for sweets, so I think those drugs can be good," Wilson explained to the media outlet. By the middle of 2024, she was back on a GLP-1, taking microdoses as a weight maintenance tool to keep from regaining the 80 pounds she originally lost (via USA Today).
Tracy Tutor
Reality TV star Tracy Tutor didn't hold back about her Mounjaro side effects while being interviewed on the "Jeff Lewis Has Issues" podcast in 2023. Tutor revealed that the GLP-1 caused her to "projectile vomit" whenever she drank alcohol.
She told Lewis that she limited her use to about two months. When asked why, she said, "I don't want to lose any more weight, so I just stopped." However, in a 2026 "Mirror, Mirror" sit-down with Amy Chang, Tutor mentioned that she still microdosed GLP-1s to maintain her weight.
Rosie O'Donnell
Even after having bariatric surgery in 2013, Rosie O'Donnell needed some weight management assistance. In late 2022, she started taking a GLP-1 and lost 10 pounds in about a month by taking the lowest dose of the drug, according to Newsweek.
O'Donnell shared a photo of herself on Instagram in 2025, indicating that she was still relying on GLP-1s. The image showed her holding a microphone and was captioned, "i cant believe this is me now #mounjaro #weightloss #bodydismorphia."
Dolores Catania
"Real Housewives" celebrity Dolores Catania shared the secret to a 20-pound weight loss in 2023: Ozempic. Catania told The U.S. Sun that she was being "realistic" but wanted to reach an end-goal weight of 130 pounds.
While a guest on the "Virtual Reali-Tea" podcast, Catania explained that her weight loss transformation wasn't achieved by just taking GLP-1s (via E! News). Instead, she attributed it to a combination of medications, exercise, and being selective about the foods she eats.
