Whatever Happened To The Cast Of VH1's Celebrity Fit Club?

"Celebrity Fit Club" ran from 2005 to 2010 on VH1. The reality-style TV show included seasonally rotating cast members, all of whom had some kind of fame — and all of whom sported big personalities that were bound to get in each other's way.

But the conceptual twist that drove "Celebrity Fit Club" was that contestants didn't just have supersized opinions; they had bigger bodies than they wanted, too. By going on the show, they hoped to not only compete for prizes, but also get in better shape.

Of course, as we know, it's challenging to trim down after gaining weight. A 2022 review in Clinical Nutrition ESPEN noted that regaining lost pounds is common in obese individuals, but also found that permanent lifestyle changes could affect whether or not someone could keep weight from creeping back.

Sadly, a few "Celebrity Fit Club" cast members have passed away, including "Happy Days" celeb Erin Moren, "Saved By the Bell" actor Dustin Diamond, and comedian Ralphie May. However, many stars from the show's 59-episode run are still on the Hollywood scene.

Willie Aames

Willie Aames had a two-time stint on "Celebrity Fit Club" in his 40s. Aames managed to drop around 20 pounds from his starting weight of 196 pounds. The first time he was on the show, he was disturbed by the filming crew in the early morning at home; the clip that aired inadvertently painted him as a hot-headed participant. "You didn't see me asking them very politely three or four times to please go away," he explained (via BeliefNet). In 2008, Aames told the Los Angeles Times he "begged the network to let [him] back on 'Celebrity Fit Club.'"

Aames' IMDB page credits him as being a director, producer, and writer. He hasn't mentioned his weight in recent interviews, but appeared to be in good health in a 2025 Pop Culture Retro interview.

Carnie Wilson

Musician Carnie Wilson chose to have gastric bypass surgery after reaching 300 pounds and lost more than 100 pounds (via The Orange County Register). But she still put on baby weight after the birth of her daughter, which prompted her to join "Celebrity Fit Club." While on the show, she lost 22 pounds, according to TV Guide. However, she gained weight a few years later, prompting her to turn to lap band placement to trim down.

In 2024, Wilson shared on Instagram that she had lost around 40 pounds by cutting out foods containing sugar and white flour. Then, in 2025, she had her lap band removed after experiencing medical difficulties.

Gary Busey

While on "Celebrity Fit Club," Gary Busey showed a nasty side, which understandably ruffled another contestant. (Busey later apologized.) But he lost the weight he wanted to lose (39 pounds) so he at least succeeded with the scale, if not with his teammates.

Unfortunately, Busey has been dealing with health challenges in recent years. In 2025, at age 81, he shared a video on Instagram that showed him having difficulty forming words. Friends have reportedly attributed it to a traumatic brain injury the star suffered in the late 1980s; Busey is one of  many celebrities who have recovered from terrifying accidents.

Kimberly Locke

A successful stint on American Idol launched a music career and visibility for Kimberly Locke. But Locke didn't limit her reality TV experiences to one show. Instead, she became a "Celebrity Fit Club" member and ended up losing weight while gaining a boyfriend in Harvey Walden, the Fit Club's tough fitness coach (though they parted ways after dating for two years).

In 2008, a year after her stint on the show, Locke explained to ESPN that she had dabbled in boxing, golf, and tennis. She also said she had lost around 40 pounds. Fast forward to 2026, and Locke has transformed herself into a wellness coach. On Instagram, she wrote about the way she views the path toward healthier living: "Your health decision becomes a clarity decision becomes a life decision."

Chaz Bono

Before Chaz Bono transitioned in the late aughts, he identified as Chastity Bono and was a team captain on Celebrity Fit Club in 2006. Reportedly, Bono's then-girlfriend helped him maintain a healthier diet and exercise program. (Bono was also coached by none other than Richard Simmons on "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" in 2003, one of Simmons' best health photo op moments).

In 2009, Bono discussed his experience becoming a trans man with ABC News, stating that his decision wasn't abrupt. But he had to wait until he went through therapy to transition. "I got clean and sober in 2004 and I couldn't have done this before that," he explained. While a guest on "The Stiletto Room with Dina LaPolt" in 2025, Bono affirmed that he had maintained his sobriety since.

Victoria Jackson

Back in 2006, Victoria Jackson joined "Celebrity Fit Club," losing 22 pounds while on the show (via Reality TV World). Nowadays, though, the comedian is facing metastatic breast cancer, telling fans in 2024 that she had about three years to live due to an inoperable tumor in her windpipe. (She was initially diagnosed in 2015; despite undergoing treatment, including chemotherapy, Jackson could not say whether or not her cancer went into remission.) Yet she remained characteristically optimistic, saying, "I've had a fantastic life" (via The Hollywood Reporter).

Jay McCarroll

Fashion may be designer Jay McCarroll's passion (hence his inaugural TV appearance on "Project Runway"), but for a time, he was passionate about fitness as well. During his time on "Celebrity Fit Club," he shed 40 pounds (via Yahoo!). After his stint, he was able to launch his career (though he also had to undergo back surgery). In the late 2010s, McCarroll served as a stylist for two short films; in 2021, he worked on an HBO series as part of the wardrobe department. As of 2026, his LinkedIn page lists him as an adjunct professor at Philadelphia University.

Toccara Jones

It's fair to say that Toccara Jones, who entered the spotlight via "America's Next Top Model," left a lasting impression on "Celebrity Fit Club." Jones was a cast member twice and achieved fame thanks to a rant toward the panel judges that resurfaced on Instagram years later.

Jones lost weight both times on the show. However, in the years since, she's gone on record as saying that people need to reframe the way they think about weight. Jones told Madame Noire in 2020 that the "BMI system is all messed up." In 2021, Jones hosted "Thick House," a size-inclusive modeling competition. Speaking about "Thick House," Jones assured Nylon, "The public is dying to see real women, real shapes, real curves."
