Side-By-Side Pics Of Celebrities Who Did Weight Watchers In The '90s And Early Aughts

Before GLP1s and people realizing that they could inject themselves with a weight loss drug, fad diets were all the rage. From the SlimFast plan to the Atkins diet, Jenny Craig, and even the infamous grapefruit diet (file that one under strange diet trends from the past you may not remember), nearly everyone was hopping on one weight loss bandwagon or another. Perhaps most popular, however, was the juggernaut that was Weight Watchers.

In Weight Watchers' heyday, they even had the "Queen of All Media" Oprah Winfrey publicly singing the weight loss program's praises. Never forget the famous 2016 "I love bread" commercial she did for the company, in which she also held a 10% stake. But as it turns out, there were many other celebrities who were on Weight Watchers in the 1990s and early aughts, too — and we've got the before and after photos to prove it!

Lynn Redgrave started Weight Watchers in 1984

The late British-American actress Lynn Redgrave served as a spokeswoman for Weight Watchers from 1984 all the way until 1992. According to the thespian, she dropped 10 dress sizes while on the program, going from a size 18 all the way down to an 8. "I enjoy doing the commercials. They're well-written and fun to do and I'm probably the only person in television history who's pushing something she believes in," she told Deseret News in 1989.

Sarah Ferguson joined Weight Watchers fresh off the heels of her royal divorce

On the heels of her divorce from Prince Andrew, Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, famously joined Weight Watchers in 1997 and stayed on the plan for more than a decade. "1,2,3 it's working for me!" the royal famously declared in a commercial for the popular weight loss program. According to Ferguson, she dropped a whopping 50 pounds with the help of Weight Watchers. "Honestly, I still felt out of control with my weight until I joined Weight Watchers," Ferguson confessed during an interview with Psychology Today. "A structured diet like Weight Watchers' taught me how to see food in context, and getting into a fitness regimen elevated my mood." Alas, as the saying goes, all good things must come to an end. In 2007, Weight Watchers effectively ended their partnership with Ferguson.

Tina Fey joined Weight Watchers after moving from Chicago to New York

Writer, comedian, and actor Tina Fey turned to Weight Watchers in 2000, just as her star was rising as a "Saturday Night Live" writer. "I had lived in Chicago and really enjoyed the food in Chicago and the big coats," she joked during a 2020 candid interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which she discussed her lifetime membership with the weight loss company after losing 30 pounds on their program. "We all took our coats off and I was like what happened?!" she added about the exact moment she chose to join (via YouTube).
