Kid Rock Radically Overhauled His Diet In 2021 (And His Habits Couldn't Be More Different From BFF Trump)

Kid Rock and businessman-turned-politician Donald Trump became fast friends in 2016 when the rock and roller openly voiced his support for the presidential hopeful. "I'm digging Trump," he famously told Rolling Stone. "My feeling: let the motherf***ing business guy run it like a f***ing business. And his campaign has been entertaining as s***."

Aside from their political opinions, however, it appears the men are polar opposites when it comes to every other facet of life, including their diet. In June 2024, Kid Rock told podcast host Joe Rogan of "The Joe Rogan Experience" that he had radically overhauled his diet, focusing on high protein, fruits and vegetables, lots of water with electrolytes, and intermittent fasting. Suffice to say, the newly health-conscious rocker's diet couldn't be more different than his BFF Trump's daily diet of bacon and eggs, meatloaf, and Diet Coke. (As you may recall, Trump's unhealthy eating habits reportedly have staffers more worried than ever about his longevity.) "You know for people who like what I do are in and around my age especially like it's f***ing time everyone, it's time to get our s*** together, get healthy like, you know, you can't just run around doing what I was doing for the last 20 years forever and not expect some major consequences," he declared during an appearance on "This Past Weekend w/ Theo Von."

Trump still may have Kid Rock beat in the health department

The story goes that Kid Rock's "hardcore health journey" was five years in the making. "HARD WORK PAYS!!... and if you have been thinking about doing the same, NOW IS THE TIME!!" he wrote on Facebook along with a photo of himself sporting notably toned arms while swinging a golf club. Meanwhile, we can't remember a time when Trump was willing to bare his upper arms in public.

It should be noted, however, that when it comes to health, there is one advantage Trump has over Kid Rock. Trump completely abstains from alcohol, while Kid Rock is still a devout beer drinker. "I like to drink my beer," he declared on an episode of "The Joe Rogan Experience" in June 2024. " I drink some beer. I enjoy that and I'm not f***ing stopping," he added while noting that he usually imbibes one night a week, depending on his work schedule.

Unfortunately, alcohol has many real effects on your body, including impaired cognitive function, increased risk of cancer, as well as heart and liver issues, and, yes, even weight gain. And according to integrative medicine specialist Dr. Pamela M. Peeke, binge drinking — which it appears is what Kid Rock seemingly alluded to doing, usually one night a week — can derail even those who otherwise live very active lifestyles and eat very healthily. "Drinking presses 'pause' on your metabolism, shoves away the other calories, and says, 'Break me down first!'" Peeke told CNN in March 2015. Because of this, Peeke warns patients not to abstain all week and then binge. "That's the worst thing you can possibly do for your weight," Peeke cautioned. "It has a much bigger effect than one drink a day."
