Melissa McCarthy's New Weight Loss Has Fans Talking Ozempic Face — And This Time It's A Compliment
In a world where celebrities are constantly judged for taking Ozempic, Melissa McCarthy's weight loss journey stood out and sparked admiration. Sharing a video of the comedian from an April 2026 appearance on X, one commentator lauded her for achieving her transformation through hard work. In their view, McCarthy's transformation was in clear contrast to that of other Hollywood celebrities who had developed the Ozempic face after using the diabetes management drug.
Even if she did use GLP-1s as an appetite suppressant to remove "food noise", she obviously still put in the work. That's why she doesn't look sickly or have a sunken in malnourished appearance. Bc she did it over time with diet & exercise pic.twitter.com/jatGOaDD90

While plenty of celebrities have openly admitted to taking Ozempic and similar medications, McCarthy has remained completely mum on the topic. Still, most X commentators were in agreement that her transformation hinted that even if she had used Ozempic, it had been a supplement to her lifestyle changes and not a quick fix. One person even pointed out that McCarthy hadn't achieved her transformation overnight, further cementing the idea that a lot of hard work had gone into it, regardless of the supposed GLP-1 medication aid.
In a chat with Cleveland Clinic, endocrinologist Vinni Makin, MD, explained that the Ozempic face could be avoided if a person were prepared to only lose a pound or two in a week through GLP-1 medication. Dr. Makin also professed that a nutrient-dense diet and a good exercise regimen could go a long way in keeping the Ozempic face at bay. Meanwhile, family nurse practitioner Kris Adair told Healthline that the loss of facial fat brought on by GLP-1 medication could also be minimized through cosmetic tweaks like fillers, plasma injections, micro-needling, and fat transfers, as well as major procedures like a facelift or a neck lift.
Melissa McCarthy appeared to have dodged a question about Ozempic in 2024
After looking at an Instagram photo that Melissa McCarthy had posted of herself in April 2024, Barbra Streisand left a since-deleted comment questioning if she was using Ozempic. Instead of directly addressing the GLP-1 medication speculation, McCarthy shared an Instagram video of herself reading a magazine with Streisand's face on the cover. "The takeaway: Barbra Streisand knows I exist. She reached out to me, and she thought I looked good!" she said in the video. "I win the day."
Although the "Spy" star hasn't opened up about how she achieved her weight loss in the 2020s, she has shared some things that have greatly aided her journey in the past. During a June 2015 appearance on "CBS' Mornings," McCarthy shared that a pivotal point in her journey ironically came when she stopped obsessing over her weight, noting, "I stopped over-analyzing, over-thinking, over-doing anything." Ultimately, she believed that giving herself the permission to be easier on herself had helped her attain her weight loss goals far better.
Meanwhile, during a May 2018 appearance on the "Breakfast Club" podcast, the "Tammy" actor shared that she had decided against getting surgery to achieve her weight loss goals because she had a desire to achieve change slowly over time. McCarthy also admitted that it was freeing for her to accept that her weight loss journey would be a marathon, not a sprint, because she had given birth to two kids over the years. With all this, it's undeniable that McCarthy knows that one of the simplest ways to maintain weight loss is to make the journey sustainable.
