What You'll Find In Ariana Grande's Daily Diet

In June 2013 — about two months before she released the debut album that kicked off her solo pop star career — Ariana Grande addressed rumors about her weight loss being the result of an eating disorder with a statement posted on Tumblr (via E! Online). "I was happy with the way I was before and I'm still happy now! Just healthier," Grande assured her fans, sharing that she used to make "really poor [dietary] choices" that affected how well she took care of herself. "I'm eating as much as I was before, the content has just changed."

According to Grande, she made the decision to completely forgo junk food, which she "used to live on," in favor of more mindful and nutritious dietary choices. This decision even helped the star manage her blood sugar levels. She noted that she has had "awful" hypoglycemia for her entire life, and that her revised eating habits contributed greatly to the improvement of her condition.

Grande's daily diet has not changed much since then, although the most significant modification to her eating habits came just months after her Tumblr statement. Now, the "Wicked" star is 100% vegan, a lifestyle that she seems to be enjoying to the fullest. (Read this to learn what happens to your body when you go vegan.)

Ariana Grande has been vegan since 2013

While there are probably many celebrities you didn't know were vegan, Ariana Grande is unlikely to be on that list. On November 5, 2013, via a tweet on her now-inactive X account, Grande shared the news about what she called a "joyous day" with her followers: the day she went from plant-based to full vegan. (Here's why a plant-based diet is different from going vegan.) "I've eaten organically since I was little and always kept meat minimal but today marks my first day as a 100% Vegan!!!!" (via VegNews).

By her own admission, there was a time in her life when Grande preferred not-so-healthy food options — but given what she has publicly shared about her favorite fruits and snacks, it almost sounds like the vegan lifestyle came naturally for her. For starters, the pop star is a huge fan of strawberries, even tweeting: "I've had at least five strawberries a day since I can remember. They're my favorite food!" (per Women's Health). In 2015, she shared a snap of blueberries on her instagram account.

And in an interview with Shape, Grande gushed about her snacks of choice, almonds and cashews: "They make great healthy snacks to keep me energized throughout my day!" In the same interview, she revealed her love for coconut water, claiming that she "always [has] a bottle next to [her]."

Ariana Grande also enjoys Japanese food, smoothies, and coffee

In a 2017 interview with PopSugar, Ariana Grande's trainer, Harley Pasternak, shared that ever since she started working with him, the pop star has been following "a more balanced diet," and has learned to "feel OK about indulging and celebrating sometimes." He added that Grande has expanded her dietary repertoire, incorporating the fitness expert's smoothie recipes into her daily menu (with a particular affinity for the white, red, and green ones that are part of Pasternak's Body Reset Diet plan).

Talking to Glamour in 2015, Pasternak described Grande's eating plan as "almost like a macrobiotic Japanese [diet]" that included adzuki beans, daikon, and lotus. Interestingly, in a 2011 tweet (via Women's Health), Grande tweeted to a fan that she loved Japanese food.

Aside from smoothies and coconut water, Grande is also known to enjoy soy lattes from Starbucks, as she revealed in a 2014 TIME interview. But she skips the dairy — and, funnily enough, doesn't always order grande. "No, sometimes I get that venti, you know? Some days that's what you need in your life."
