What You'll Find In Barron Trump's Daily Diet

When it comes to celebrity offspring, there's no shortage of curiosity about their lives—and that includes what they eat. In Barron Trump's case, this fascination comes with an extra helping of intrigue. As the youngest child of Donald and Melania Trump, Barron has grown up in the public eye while keeping a relatively low personal profile. Yet from time to time, small glimpses emerge that offer insight into the daily habits of this unusually tall and unusually private teen.

Despite his elite background and the family's often extravagant lifestyle, Barron's relationship with food appears surprisingly down-to-earth, though with a few eccentric twists. So what exactly does this first son eat each day? Let's dig into the clues we do have. (And, while you're here, check out everything you'll find in Donald Trump's daily diet.)

Barron Trump skipped lunch in high school

Growing up in a world of bodyguards, headlines, and high expectations, Barron Trump still had to face the age-old teen dilemma: school lunch. According to former classmates, he often joined others in the cafeteria during his time at Oxbridge Academy — but notably, without a tray in hand. He was regularly seen socializing during the lunch hour, yet didn't seem to partake in the actual eating part. One classmate noted: "He never specifically said why, just that he would wait until he got home to eat. It was a little unusual" (per Irish Star).

While you may be able to get away with skipping lunch now and then, Haley Robinson, a Piedmont clinical dietitian, explained that it could have some negative effects over time. "First, your blood sugar decreases, which causes interruption in your ability to think straight," Robinson said. Not good when you still have an afternoon of classes ahead of you! Skipping meals can also leave you "hangry" and slows down your metabolism, according to Robinson, which sets you up to overeat and gain weight. Hopefully now that Barron has transitioned to college, his eating habits will include a nourishing midday meal to help fuel his metabolism and mind. Donald Trump credits Barron's height to Slovenian cuisine

And then there's the towering question everyone asks: How did Barron get so tall? Standing at an astonishing 6-foot-7, his height has become a defining feature — and his father may have the answer. At the January 2024 funeral for Melania's mother, Amalija Knavs, Donald Trump praised her home-cooked meals and credited them for Barron's vertical success. "That's how he got so tall," Trump said. "He only ate her food" (via The Telegraph).

Traditional Slovenian cuisine contains hearty ingredients like buckwheat, cabbage, pork, and dairy, and features signature dishes like Kranjska Klobasa sausage, Idrijski Žlikrof dumplings, and Prekmurska Gibanica cake. If Amalija's traditional Slovenian cooking was a staple of his childhood diet, it's possible it contributed to more than just comfort — it might've laid the foundation for a very well-fed (and very tall) young man. His grandmother's delicious meals might also be why he wanted to save his appetite by skipping school lunches. (Did you know there's one food you won't find in Melania Trump's diet?)

However, if he continues to enjoy these dishes, a 2021 study found in Nutritional and Health Aspects of Food in the Balkans indicates that he may want to keep his eye on his intake of saturated fats and sugar and make sure to eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, as even Slovenian cooking is not immune to these dietary pitfalls.
