What RFK Jr. Typically Drinks In A Day
The concept of maintaining a healthy lifestyle has been a huge personal and political focus for Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., after turning his health around as an adult. Now the Secretary of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, Kennedy speaks frequently about a wide range of nutrition-based topics — many that stir up debate, like his insistence that seed oils are bad for you (and we fact-checked his most controversial claims).
Without a doubt, he's selective about the foods he recommends that people should consume. Therefore, you might wonder what he prefers to drink with his protein-heavy "dirty carnivore" diet. For starters, Kennedy apparently stays away from alcohol. According to an article in Recovery Today Magazine, he has stayed sober for more than four decades. He has also gone on record as saying individuals on his maternal side struggled with alcoholism (via Forbes).
With that said, one drink Kennedy doesn't abstain from has caused a big stir: raw milk.
Kennedy's preferred beverages: raw milk, Coke, and sugar-free iced tea
What's the difference between raw milk and pasteurized milk? As food science expert John Lucey told USA Today, "[Pasteurization] is not making milk into an ultra-processed food. This is just heating it to 160 degrees [Fahrenheit] for 15 seconds." Nonetheless, Kennedy has made statements that raw milk is healthier because it hasn't lost any nutrients through pasteurization. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has said that there is no evidence that pasteurizing raw milk actually makes it significantly less nutritious than its raw counterpart.
Interestingly, one drink that's undeniably less nutritious than milk is Coke. Kennedy was seen sipping Coke with a fast food meal on an Air Force One trip with President Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and others. A 20-ounce serving of regular Coke contains 65 grams of sugar. Since the American Heart Association (AHA) recommends that adult men take in no more than 36 grams of sugar daily (women are capped at 25 grams), drinking a Coke would cover nearly two days of sugar for Kennedy.
Infrequent Cokes aside, another of Kennedy's preferred drinks, unsweetened iced tea, contains caffeine but without the accompanying calories or sugars. In fact, he's replaced a self-professed Coke-drinking habit of up to nine sodas a day with sugar-free iced tea (via Seattle Times).
RFK Jr.'s other interesting drink choices
Kennedy may be fond of sneaking in a smoothie now and then, too. At one Congress event, Kennedy had a smoothie cup beside him. But it's not clear what kind of smoothie was in the drink, and Kennedy was never photographed actually sipping from it, so it may have been a one-off beverage choice. At a 2025 farmers market event, Kennedy made a blueberry smoothie via a blender strapped to a stationary bike; this time, he did take a few sips (via Washingtonian).
On a final note, Kennedy was seen in a viral video adding some blue liquid from a dropper to his drink. Many people have speculated that the blue liquid could be methylene blue, which is used by medical professionals to treat a very specific type of blood cell condition.
Methylene blue supposedly improves cognition based on animal models. However, evidence that it could help boost brainpower in humans hasn't been substantiated. Regardless, if it is methylene blue, Kennedy probably isn't putting it in tap water. Kennedy's a vocal opponent of the use of fluoride in public water supplies. (Here's everything you wanted to know about fluoride.)
