George H.W. Bush's Eating Habits Were Just As Bad As Donald Trump's

President Donald Trump's daily diet is reportedly atrocious, with him being known to down two Big Macs, two Filet-O-Fish sandwiches, and a chocolate milkshake in a single sitting. In fact, his Secretary of Health and Human Services, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who is known for following a paleo diet, described the meals served aboard the president's private plane as "poison" when he appeared on "The Joe Polish Show" podcast. "You have a choice between — you don't have the choice — you're either given KFC or Big Macs," he told the host. "That's when you're lucky and then the rest of the stuff I consider kind of inedible" (via Newsweek).

However, another president may have had eating habits just as bad as Trump's. George H.W. Bush, who was the 41st president, as well as the father of the 43rd president, George W. Bush, had some notable likes and dislikes when it came to food, and they weren't the most healthy.

Bush's favorite snack was pork rinds

Katy Trail Weekly notes that, being from Texas, both George H.W. Bush and his son, George W., were big fans of pork rinds. The elder Bush also played a large role in popularizing the crunchy snack. "It was the biggest thing that could ever happen," Mark Singleton, VP of sales and marketing for Rudolph Foods Company, told the website. "Right away, every reporter is calling our little factory in Lima saying, 'Your [sic] killing the president!' We put our hands up and said 'Whoa, whoa, whoa!' Sixty percent of our fat is good fat," he said. "They have seven grams of collagen. Protein! We turned that message around from a negative connotation and a negative image of pork rinds."

Per Parade, the nation's 41st president enjoyed his pork rinds paired with another Texas favorite: a splash of Tabasco sauce.

Bush was famous for hating broccoli

According to People, Bush had something in common with picky toddlers everywhere: a disdain for broccoli. In fact, he loathed it so much that he banned it from Air Force One. The magazine explained that things came to a head one day when he was served a meal with the cruciferous vegetable. Looking at the steward, he reportedly said, "You know, I've hated broccoli ever since I was a little boy. My mother made me eat broccoli, and now that I'm president of the United States, I'm not going to eat broccoli anymore."

From that point forward, broccoli became a running joke for the president, frequently finding its way into speeches and practical jokes. In fact, at one point, the United Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Association even presented Bush with a gift composed of, you guessed it, 10 tons of broccoli (in case you're curious, here's what happens if you eat too much broccoli). "Millie [the family dog] and I thank you for the broccoli. We'll eat it," the first lady quipped, adding that she was less sure about her husband. "If his own blessed mother can't make him eat broccoli, I give up," she said.
