5 Celebs Who Have Bashed Ozempic And Other GLP-1s
Everywhere you look, it seems that there are more and more celebrities hitching their wagon to Ozempic and various other weight-loss drugs. From Oprah Winfrey to Serena Williams to Rebel Wilson, it appears the who's who of Hollywood are all dipping their toes in the pharmaceutical fountain of weight loss. "The fact that there's a medically approved prescription for managing weight and staying healthier, in my lifetime, feels like relief, like redemption, like a gift, and not something to hide behind and once again be ridiculed for. I'm absolutely done with the shaming from other people and particularly myself," Winfrey told People in December 2023 about her own experience taking a GLP-1.
Alas, for as many pro-weight-loss drug celebs out there, there seem to be equally as many weight-loss drug haters out there — and they're not afraid to say so. A number of celebrities have openly discussed their less-than-stellar impressions of — and sometimes even firsthand experience with — Ozempic and other GLP-1s.
Sharon Osbourne says she lost too much weight while on Ozempic
In November 2023, Sharon Osbourne spoke candidly about her own struggles after starting Ozempic in December 2022 and taking it for an extended period. "I know I look gaunt and I know everything that goes along with it. And I did it," she acknowledged during an exclusive interview with the Daily Mail. According to Sharon, she lost a whopping 42 pounds before she eventually decided to stop taking the drug. "I'm under 100lb and I don't want to be," she divulged. "You can lose so much weight and it's easy to become addicted to that, which is very dangerous," she explained.
Meanwhile, it appears her late rocker husband, Ozzy Osbourne, was no fan of her taking the drug either. "He doesn't like it," she admitted during a November 2023 appearance on "Good Morning Britain." She added, "He's scared that something is going to happen to me. He says, 'You've got skinny, then something else is going to happen.' He's always thinking about the downside — that it's too good to be true," she recalled. Sharon was, however, very adamant that teenagers should not be experimenting with weight loss drugs. "I just think it's, um, needs to be in the hands of older people that totally understand there could be side effects to this," she cautioned on the British breakfast television program.
Chelsea Handler said taking diabetic drugs is 'too irresponsible'
Chelsea Handler is decidedly anti-Ozempic. But that doesn't mean she hasn't unknowingly tried the medication in the past. In January 2023, during an appearance on Alex Cooper's "Call Her Daddy" podcast, Handler revealed that she inadvertently experimented with the drug. "So, my anti-aging doctor just hands it out to anybody," Handler dished to Cooper (via People). "I didn't even know I was on it. She said, 'If you ever want to drop five lbs., this is good,'" she recalled. It wasn't until talking with another friend who was openly on the medication, however, that Handler connected the dots. "That's Ozempic!" the friend exclaimed to Handler after Handler shared that she was on semaglutide.
It should be noted, however, that Handler is no longer taking the drug. "That's too irresponsible. I'm an irresponsible drug user, but I'm not gonna take a diabetic drug," she joked, referring to how using Ozempic for weight loss is impacting diabetes patients. "I tried it, and I'm not gonna do that. That's not for me. That's not right for me," she concluded.
Kate Winslet thinks Ozempic 'sounds terrible'
Kate Winslet minced no words while discussing Ozempic during an interview with the New York Times in March 2024. While Winslet was quick to admit she wasn't exactly sure what the drug was, once the interviewer explained, she cried, "Oh, my God. This sounds terrible. Let's eat some more things!" as she dramatically popped another bite of pastry in her mouth.
Later on, however, in 2025, Winslet's thoughts about weight loss drugs were a little more pronounced. "Do they know what they are putting in?" she wondered out loud during a candid interview with The Times about other celebrities taking weight-loss drugs. "The disregard for one's health is terrifying. It bothers me now more than ever. It is f***ing chaos out there."
Sadly, Winslet is no stranger to the pressures of being thin. In fact, she confessed to the New York Times that she once struggled with an eating disorder. "I never told anyone about it," she divulged. "Because guess what — people in the world around you go: 'Hey, you look great! You lost weight!'"
Bunnie Xo says she experienced 'scary' side effects
Jelly Roll's wife, Bunnie Xo, wants everyone to know about her horrible experience with GLP-1s. According to the podcast host and YouTuber, she gave an unnamed weight loss drug a go in December 2025, and it backfired miserably, resulting in debilitating depression and even suicidal ideation. "That was one of the darkest times of my life and it was scary," she confessed during a candid interview with People in February. "I'm good now," she maintained, before stressing, "December was a rough month, let me tell you."
In the confines of the interview, Bunnie Xo revealed that she opted to try a GLP-1 due to her genetic predisposition to develop diabetes. "Both my parents had diabetes. So my insulin numbers are really crazy and my body just cannot tolerate it," she said. Sadly, it appears that her body couldn't tolerate the GLP1 either. "I wish I could be part of the cool crowd and be skinny and freaking not have a care in the world," she lamented.
Now, Bunnie Xo has made it her mission to let others know about her own experience — frightening side effects and all — while also speaking out directly to those who have ever dealt with suicidal thoughts. "I just want people to know you're not alone. Everybody goes through ups and downs and you are worth staying here. Please stay ... Do not make a permanent decision based on a temporary emotion because it will go away," she declared.

Luke Combs confessed that weight loss drugs 'scare' him
Award-winning country singer and songwriter Luke Combs has always been very open and forthcoming about his own issues with his weight over the years. "I have always struggled with my weight," he confessed during an interview on The New York Times' "Popcast" podcast in February 2026. "It bugs me a lot that I can't figure it out. I don't want my life to be this life of like, ease and like, everything's easy. I like when stuff's hard."
Still, it appears Combs' discontentment with his weight is not enough to make him start experimenting with weight loss drugs. "As dumb as that sounds, that stuff scares me more than I think that I would enjoy the benefits of," he revealed. As for Combs, he's resolved to do it the good ol' fashioned way with a little bit of sweat equity involved. "I need to win, like, I need to beat myself," he joked. Still, Combs was careful to note that there wasn't anything wrong with someone choosing to go the weight loss drug route. "That's personal for you," he said.
