Side-By-Side Photos Of Stars Who Underwent Jaw Surgery
People across the nation rely on jaw surgeries to correct their bites, restore their appearance after an accident, and get more chiseled lower facial features. According to Johns Hopkins Medicine, around 15% of individuals could benefit from some type of surgical jaw procedure. And that includes the most popular performers.
In fact, numerous famous faces have been altered thanks to jaw surgery. In some cases, the effect is barely visible. On the other hand, a few celeb changes are obvious enough to become the fodder for social media gossip. (Of course, some speculations are incorrect — take ripped "Baywatch" film star Zac Efron, whose updated jawline was apparently affected by a fall and wasn't the result of surgery.)
To be sure, A-listers can be quite hush about their elective or corrective surgical treatments. This makes it tough to know exactly who's undergone surgery on their upper or lower jaws or chins. Fortunately, a few have openly shared their jaw journeys.
Brielle Biermann
As one of the daughters of reality TV star Kim Zolciak-Biermann, Brielle Biermann is no stranger to publicity. But Biermann got tons of extra attention in 2021 when she dished big time about her 2010 jaw surgery.
On her Instagram, Biermann explained that she went through the experience to address her temporomandibular joint (TMJ) disorder and an overbite, noting "this was NOT for aesthetics but for quality of life." Speaking of which, she added that she couldn't wait until she was able to eat pizza again in three months. (Soft foods are standard after jaw surgery procedures.)
Ye (Kanye West)
Musician Ye (Kanye West) fractured his jaw in 2002 when he fell asleep while driving his car. (This was long before Ye became a keto devotee.) Fortunately, he was able to get immediate surgery. Always an artist, he rapped a song called "Through the Wire" despite having his jaw wired shut for six weeks.
After the crash, Ye reportedly had difficulty pronouncing some letters (via Newsweek). This made it difficult for the singer, but he persevered, reflecting in 2014 that "during that recovery period, I just spent all my time honing my craft."
Bristol Palin
Eventually, most stars spill the tea about any surgery that alters the way they look. Bristol Palin did in 2011 during an interview with Us Weekly, where she admitted that her sharp chin and slimmer face were due to corrective surgery.
Though she acknowledged the surgical treatment was a physical improvement, she added that "surgery was necessary for medical reasons...so my jaw and teeth could properly realign." Palin explained that when she was younger, she was told she would eventually need the surgery to sufficiently fix a bite misalignment. (Interestingly, Palin experienced facial paralysis in 2025 that partly affected her cheek.)
Bec Zacharia
Reality TV star Bec Zacharia underwent jaw surgery for a much different reason than many other celebs. For her, the procedure was necessary to correct a birth defect. Unfortunately, some Internet followers have mocked the way her jaw looks on TikTok.
As Zacharia noted to the Daily Mail, their cruel words haven't changed her positive outlook. After getting reconstructive surgery, she said she's satisfied. "I'm so happy that I've got this sort of jaw and chin now. Before that, it was really bad."
Zac Efron
When photographers snapped images of actor Zac Efron with puffiness around his jawline, the feeds went crazy with speculation. (He told ET that he found the rumors "funny"). Plenty of people surmised that Efron had gone through a massive change that he had initiated. Turns out they were partially right: Yes, he changed, but the change wasn't deliberate.
During a Men's Health interview in 2022, Efron shared the reason behind his different jawline. His jaw had been injured (the bottom portion was "hanging off"), and he had to have it wired shut. The incident and subsequent physical therapy caused swelling, as well as muscle growth around his jaw hinge, transforming his features.
In time, Efron's body adjusted, leaving his jaw less bulky. That said, his jaw definitely has a much different silhouette than when fans first flocked to him. (His body went through a change, too, when Efron got ripped for an acting role.)
