Side-By-Side Pics Of Millennial Stars Who Have Admitted To Using Ozempic And Other GLP-1s

Ah, midlife. It's a great time for hitting your personal and career strides, but it can also be a period of weight gain. According to Mayo Clinic endocrinologist Dr. Daniela Hurtado Andrade, this phenomenon is very common, particularly in women. And you can thank waning muscle mass, which starts to affect metabolism.

Here's the real kicker, though: You won't necessarily shed weight just by strength training. Dr. Hurtado explains that just hitting the gym and scaling back on food don't always work for long-term weight loss because the body is hardwired to persistently send hunger signals. That's why some individuals — including many Millennial celebrities in their 30s and 40s — are turning to GLP-1s like Ozempic.

At a basic level, GLP-1s suppress appetite by masking normal "feed me" sensations. At the same time, GLP-1s help regulate blood sugar, a critical element for people whose weight challenges are associated with diabetes (via Cleveland Clinic).

Which of the Millennial "who's who" in Hollywood have gone the GLP-1 route? The list of familiar names is pretty hefty and keeps getting longer as GLP-1s rise in popularity.

Amy Schumer

In the past few years, comedian Amy Schumer has slimmed down significantly. That said, her first trial runs with GLP-1s didn't go smoothly.

The star first tried Wegovy, but it made her throw up and lose her energy. "I was like bedridden," Schumer admitted on Howard Stern's show (via People). After a switch to competitor product Mounjaro, she had greater success.

Later, she moved to Ozempic, but admitted on "Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen" in 2023, "I was one of those people that felt so sick and couldn't play with my son" due to Ozempic's side effects. During the interview, she also accused some celebs of "lying" about their GLP-1 use and encouraged them to just 'fess up already.

Golnesa 'GG' Gharachedaghi

Reality TV brought Golnesa "GG" Gharachedaghi to fame, and she's certainly keeping it real when it comes to taking Ozempic. In fact, Gharachedaghi has become so open about using GLP-1s that she created an Instagram video in 2023 to show followers how to inject the drug. (Side note: Always work with your provider to figure out the best medication delivery strategies.)

Fans offered mixed praise on the post. One gently reminded her that her weight gain was probably a result of age: "It's because you are 41. It's normal." Another fretted, "I don't understand how the skeleton look is attractive." But many appreciated her frankness. Speaking of which, she took the Amy Schumer route and admonished her fellow celebs who were secretive about their GLP-1 use, saying, "We know who you are."

Chrissy Teigen

Model Chrissy Teigen became an Ozempic user after she had a miscarriage and couldn't shed the weight she had gained during the first few months of the pregnancy. On her "Self-Conscious with Chrissy Teigen" podcast, she described her body as being "stuck," which is why she used Ozempic.

Ironically, Teigen felt uncomfortable living without much of an appetite. She described her GLP-1 eating habits as "force-feeding" and said that it frustrated her to lack the desire to eat because she knew "logically you need food to have energy." (This makes sense, given that Teigen has claimed that she doesn't like diets.)

Jon Gosselin

Reality TV show dad Jon Gosselin struggled with his weight until he started taking a generic GLP-1. Gosselin told Page Six that after losing more than 30 pounds, "I feel amazing!" However, he admitted that he wished he'd turned to GLP-1s sooner.

He's not just leaning on GLP-1s to do all the work for him, though. As he explained, GLP-1s "helped me get my appetite under control with less eating. I was able to really refocus my diet that way."

Amanda Bynes

Life hasn't always been easy for former child actress Amanda Bynes. During her life, she's tackled addiction and mental health issues. However, she's seen a glimmer of positivity in her body shape through the use of GLP-1s.

Bynes took to Instagram to gush about dropping 28 pounds with the assistance of Ozempic (via Page Six). Though she said she still "looked big," she was upbeat about being on the right track to trim down.

Serena Williams

Professional athletes can have weight struggles, too. Take tennis legend Serena Williams, whose dive into motherhood led to excess pounds that just wouldn't budge. (And Williams' pregnancy complications probably just added to her stress levels, which can exacerbate weight gain.)

In a TODAY interview, Williams said that ramping up her activity and going vegetarian just didn't work. "I just couldn't get my weight to where I needed to be at a healthy place — and believe me, I don't take shortcuts," she said. But her 31-pound weight loss has left her feeling "normal" once again.

Meghan Trainor

Musician Meghan Trainor used Instagram to give praise to GLP-1s for helping her transform her silhouette. "I used science and support (shoutout to Mounjaro!) to help me after my 2nd pregnancy," she wrote in a post. Most followers were supportive, but some wondered why she felt the need to lose so much weight.

Trainor is apparently leveraging every avenue she can get to "biohack" her body and turn back the clock, according to an ET interview on Instagram. As she reportedly put it, "[a]nything that'll help me age backward, I'm into it" (via Page Six).
